Ipswich town
Carlos Edwards grabbed the only goal as Ipswich gave the perfect response to the midweek defeat against Peterborough that so angered manager Roy Keane.
Keane had questioned his side's character but they were ahead inside 15 minutes when Edwards cut in from the right and rifled home a fine shot.
Marcus Tudgay almost levelled for the Owls but his shot crashed off the bar.
At the other end, Damien Delaney headed against the bar from an Edwards cross and the latter also shot narrowly wide.
.Sheffield Wednesday boss Alan Irvine:
"We are very disappointed. It was a big game for us and there is no hiding from that.
"I have said all along that we need six wins and I am more worried about the fact that that is another game gone and we still need six wins.
